Activities
There is lots to do in Rarotonga , from immersing yourself into the Cook Islands culture, to diving, to having a relaxing massage, there is something for everyone! Activities include sailing afternoon and evening cruises, diving and snorkelling, Cross Island hike (4 hrs long), visit the perfume factory, shopping, or why not enjoy local art. Rarotonga is full of local artists, and vibrant styles of art reflecting the culture and life on the Cook Islands. There is the A-riki Art and Culture tour led by Te Aturangi Nepia-Clamp, a renowned carver who brings an artists eye as well as considerable cultural knowledge to the trip. On Saturday mornings the Punanga Nui market is a bustle of activity – the market finishes promptly at 12, so be there early to enjoy the local food from the stall, watch a local dance troupe perform, and try some local produce. Shops are usually open from 8am till 4pm weekdays, and 8am till 12noon on Saturdays.
